Perithia - Corfu

Perithia - Corfu

Things to do - general

Perithia is a small agriculture village with 400 habitants, in the North of Corfu island, just a few hundred meters away from Saint Spyridon Beach and the famous Nature Reserve Lagoon of Antinioti.
There are actually two villages under the name of Perithia: The Old Perithia, located on the slops of Mount Pantokrator and the New Perithia which is set along the main coastal road from Kassiopi to Sidari, at an altitude of 450 meters, called also Ai Lias (Agios Ilias) by the locals.
The new village is about 40 kms away from Corfu town or around 55 minutes drive by car and it was created by the shepherds living in the old village in early 50’s.
Taking the road to the left, next to the petrol station, heading to village’s center you will see an Olive press on your right, which is still operational. A few meters further up this road is the village, where a couple of tavernas, a traditional Kafenio, and two small super markets can be found.
It is an unspoiled, traditional Corfiot village, where the inhabitants are predominantly engaged in agriculture and less in farming, just a breath away from St. Spyridon beach, but away from the noisy massive tourism centres, ideal for those who still love the Corfiot tradition and character.
