This charming little beach house has all you need

Holiday Rating: 5

This charming little beach house has all you need, but its unique selling point, is its fantastic location on the beach. My husband and two young children enjoyed a week here and the sea was wonderful to swim in. Remote and yet only a couple of miles to central Kassiopi, which is a fantastic place. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. The harbour is fab and we rented a boat for the day, which I highly recommend. We loved it here!

Superb location...right on the beach

Holiday Rating: 5

Fantastic break at Villa Varvara. The location is unbeatable - the apartment is right on a shingle beach. You can hear the waves lapping from your bedroom at night! Beautiful garden with lots of flowers. House is well appointed and beds very comfortable. Our hosts (who live next door) were very helpful and did everything to make our stay so memorable. We can't recommend highly enough. Will be back.

It is ideal for a relaxed family or single holiday....

Holiday Rating: 5

This is a very well maintained and equipped property facing directly onto a quiet beach. It is ideal for a relaxed family or single holiday, but I would think not very good for children under 8. The view across to the Albanian coast is superb. Turning left along the beach, it is a fairly short walk to a small shop and only a little further to a well stocked supermarket. A marked footpath leads to the centre of Kassiopi, a walk of 20 - 30 minutes. The villa has a lovely secluded paved garden, ideal for private sunbathing or a drink with a book in the shade. The beach has only a little sand and is mainly stoney. These stones are very slippery and I would advise plastic shoes that grip the feet when going into the sea. Flip flops are not adequate. The owners live next door and are helpful but not intrusive. The road approach to the villa is down a narrow lane which turns into a very rough track. It is not easy to find for the first time in the dark and you would be well advised to book a flight that allows you to arrive in daylight. There is good parking in the owners property. I enjoyed my time here and hope to make another visit.

Beautiful Beach House!

What a fabulous location! Literally on your own spot of beach. Exclusive and spotlessly clean. Friendly owner lives next door and was helpful with advice and figs and regular cleaning during our 8 night stay.

Wer keinen Wert auf „Schickimicki“ legt, ist hier bestens bedient…Strand vor der Tür, relative Ruhe (oder auch absolute Ruhe im Vergleich zu den meisten Stränden in Italien)…wir waren Happy!

A beautiful little villa in a fantastic location

Holiday Rating: 5

A beautiful little villa in a fantastic location directly on the beach. It was lovely waking up to the sound of the waves in the morning! The beach was very quiet and the sea crystal clear. We walked into Kassiopi which took about 20 mins. The walk was nice through the trees and passing some spectacular villas. Nikos market, a short walk to the main road, provided us with what we needed for food. All in all a wonderful time at villa varvara, thoroughly recommended.

We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Holiday Rating: 5

We had the most wonderful time staying here - the beach feels very private and the house couldn’t be closer to the water! There are shops really near by and the kitchen is well stocked. The communication was great and we were allowed to check out slightly later on the last day to tie in with flight timings. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

One of our best holidays to Greece!

Holiday Rating: 5

We absolutely loved the holiday. Being a few metres from the sea was fabulous - especially late at night enjoying our oouzo or Metaxa either on the beach or in the lovely little garden. This was secluded & ideal for relaxing & sunbathing. We loved the constant sound of the sea. The views over to Albania are spectacular. We did the coastal walk via Avlaki to San Stefanos where we had lunch. Hard work for us 2 OAP.s but we loved it! Thalia - the owner who lives next door - was lovely & friendly - & brought us fresh figs & prickly pears a couple of times. One of our best holidays to Greece!

Wed agree with all the reviews posted about Villa Varvara.

Holiday Rating: 5

Wed agree with all the reviews posted about Villa Varvara. We felt very fortunate to have chosen a spot on the island that was quieter and out of the way but still within very easy access to restaurants and activities, although would recommend a hire car to get around. Villa is perfectly equipped with everything you might need and in the most sublime spot. Beach walkers would often stop and admire the villa and its position as they passed. The owner was always available if we needed any advice and the villa was thoroughly cleaned every 2-3 days in a discreet manner when we had gone out.

Simple but comfortable and the position is outstanding

Holiday Rating: 5

This is the second time we have stayed in Varvara and we love it!! Simple but comfortable and the position is outstanding. The bay is quiet and the swimming is superb. There are two supermarkets within walking distance, and one will deliver if needed. Thalia, the owner next door, is a wonderful neighbour - bringing eggs, figs and tomatoes, keeping the patio washed and guarding the three dedicated sun beds on the beach. We hated having to leave at the end of the week.

Kassiopi Corfu

Kassiopi Corfu

Kassiopi is a village, and a resort on the affluent north east coast of Corfu, 37 kms from the town and the airport. Historically, a small traditional fishing village, the town itself has been heavily developed and with more luxury villas now outside it, but it remains a summer social centre heavily visited by tourists, particularly popular with visitors from Britain and Italy.

Uniquely inKassiopi someone can find ubiquitous “tourist shops” and every kind of eating and drinking facility, as well as cash machines, doctors and pharmacy, internet cafes and supermarkets, a primary and a high school and an Orthodox church.

Motor boats, which can be driven by anyone during the daytime are available for hire by the day or week. Excursions run daily from the harbour to all parts of the island.

The road runs through the edge of the town, and a loop takes buses as far as the village square, approx. 250 yard from the harbour. One or two taxis (which run 24 hours a day all over the island) are based here. Both town and surrounding area are very safe at all times of the day.

The accommodation is mainly apartment type, with larger villa accommodation on the outskirts and the area surrounding (approx. 4000 beds).

The resort is lively day and night.

Being a lively resort, it is for those who are looking for a bit of life. Teenagers, families, young couples and groups of friends, who want life but also the beauty of the North East of the island, Kassiopi has a little of everything.

Kalamionas, Bataria, Votana and Avlaki are some of the fabulous nearby beaches, all within walking distance from village’s centre.

Sports and nature

Sports and natureUnique trails to the surrounding hills and mount have lately become very popular. Amazing sceneries of the Albanian coast and south Adriatic sea can be experienced walking through most of the trails.

Nightlife

NightlifeKassiopi is the perfect resort for those who are looking for a bit of life. Teenagers, families, young couples and groups of friends can enjoy Kassiopi's nighlife in one of the bars or tavernas, drinking or eating by the sea, taking place in karaoke competitions or watching Greek dancing. Disco bars internet caffes abound also in Kassiopi.

Culture & history

Culture & historyThe Byzantine fortress: The town is said to have been founded during the reign of Pyrrhus, King of Epirus in the 3rd Century BC, as a supply post during his war with Rome. After the Roman conquest of the island in 230 BC, many Emperors visited, most prominently Emperor Nero, who came to a Temple to Zeus here. Much of a small headland to the north of the resort is taken up by a Byzantine fortress. The fortress was subsequently fortified further by the Venetians, and survived sieges from the Ottoman Turks in the 16th century. Today parts of the fortress's walls can be seen from the coastal road around the headland. The Church: Sometime in the 5th century the temple of Kassios Zeus was converted to a Christian church to honour the Holy Mother – Panayia Kassopitra. In 1537 the church was burned to the ground by the Turks, it was restored between 1590 & 1591.The new church had two altars to accommodate both Catholic and Orthodox religions and inscriptions on the church bear the dates 1590, 1670 and 1832.
