Villa Petunia Argaka October Sun

Holiday Rating: 5

The Villa is situated close to the beach which is good . The nearest bar/ restaurant is a viable walk taking ten minutes and is very good . Cooking for six with the utensils provided would be difficult. The BBQ was not good and no BBQ utensils at all . We didn’t see the pool man for a fortnight . Maintenance of the Villa sadly lacking which is a shame as it could be lovely . Mattresses need up grading as very uncomfortable. The area in front of the Villa seems to be the collection area for broken , chairs sun beds etc not good . The views from the Villa are lovely and size wise ok for 6 inside and out . Despite the problems which are mainly down to maintenance we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning if the problems could be addressed. Local agents have been very good and responsive especially when we needed a Physio . Thank you for a lovely stay despite the problems encountered.

A great villa in a beautiful & quiet part of the island, just a short 30 meters walk to the beach. Also benefits from a good restaurant within a couple of 100 meters meters and a few more about a mile away.

OK - some significant flaws

Holiday Rating: 3

Good: The villa is close to a nice beach (a couple of minutes walking), the pool is nice and clean, the bedrooms are big enough and the AC is free. The contact person was nice and responsive.Bad: The garden is a bit dry (back garden is dead space), there is no shade most of the day so in August it is a huge problem you have to stay indoor. The pool is very close to the house and indoor is slippery and there aren't any mats to dry your feet on so indoor becomes a major hazard.Indoor is not so nice, just a couple of pieces of old furniture and the bare minimum in the kitchen with no kitchen towels or real kitchen supplies/equipment which means if you want to cook anything you need to buy equipment, utensils, towels, etc.. None of the toilet flushes were working. The AC sometimes worked, sometimes did not. sometimes was too cold, sometimes too hot. There was a constant smell of sewage all day every day (there is some sewage cluster of some sort underneath the villa) and there have been almost daily sightings of rats in the garden and the sewage area just outside the villa.OVERALL: It has potential but the property itself needs some work.

Everything was great and as descripted by the text or images.

Holiday Rating: 5

We (two ppl.) stayed at Villa Petunia early April. Everything was great and as descripted by the text or images. Villa was perfectly clean and sleeps six with three spacious bathrooms. Lots of space on the balcony and around the house. Nice pool with sea view right in front is very well usable. It is not heated but even in April it was ok to swim. Lots of garden / yard space around the villa to catch the sun at every hour of the day. The pool and front patio are getting sun from 10am to sundown, which is perfect. Great sunset view! Quiet location with nice views of the sea and the stars at night. Minute walk to the beach, 5-10 minutes to some bars around. Sofronios and EOS travel were always there if we needed any advice or something was missing. Supplied a missing hair dryer and even a BBQ motor in just a few hours! For the western european travellers: - Cyprus uses solar heating for water with supplemental electrical. You have to turn on the electrical on a wall switch if there's not enough solar. Sth. we didnt figure out, but again EOS helped the same day by even sending help showing us how to turn on the hot water! - Since the villa is located in quiet, rural location, some critters are around at night. Nothing big to worry, but keeping the interior lights low while the large doors are open at night helps.

Very good location of the house.quite surroundings and a perfect view of the sea.

Holiday Rating: 4

Very good location of the house.quite surroundings and a perfect view of the sea. The property has large spaces and you feel very comfortable living there. However it needs maintenance as some doors and windows could not open..lamps weren't working and the outdoor socket didn't match the device for barbeque..Also there wasnt any net to clean the pool. The babe cod was broken and first night wasn' t easy...i believe with the right maintenance it will be perfect to stay there!

Argaka-Cyprus

Argaka-Cyprus

Argaka is situated on the coast, just 7kms north of Polis, NW Cyprus. Famous for its magnificent sunsets and hospitality, Argaka is the place to be!
Argaka is a small traditional Cypriot farming village, built along a ridge with magnificent views of the sea. Its location makes it the ideal place to just sit back and relax.
There is no record of the origins of the village or whether it existed in medieval times, but east of the village lies the restored church of Agia Varva which belonged to the Jerusalem Patriarchate and functioned until 1821.
The settlement of Argaka has two parts. There is Pano Argaka (Upper) and Kato Argaka (Lower). Upper Argaka represents the old settlement while Lower Argaka, which followed the Polis – Pomos – Nicosia road, is the new, linear-type settlement. The houses of the old settlement are mostly traditional, made with hewed limestone or with igneous pebbles. Because of the stream that crosses it (known as the River of Argaka), of the slope upon which it is built, and of the road through which it connects with the new settlement by the sea, the settlement of Argaka can be characterized as a relatively sparsely structured one.
The village features a selection of shops, supermarkets and banks, to satisfy all visitor’s needs while on holiday.
Argaka has several dams where fishing may be possible. This part of the island is very fertile and has an abundance of fruit trees including figs, grapes, prickly pears, apples, oranges and lemons.

Sports and nature

Akamas Peninsula It is a wonderful place to escape and be with nature. The Peninsula is famous for its wildlife and rare, endemic flora. Lefkara This charming village between Limassol and Larnaca is famous for its silver filigree and, significantly, its lace. Petra tou Romiou Petra tou Romiou (Rock of Aphrodite) is one of the most beautiful spots on the island. It said to be where the Greek goddess Aphrodite was born. Phoinikoudes, Larnaca A 2 miles or so long esplanade lined with palm trees, the Phoinikoudes (locally Foinikoudes) is the icon image of Larnaca. Ayia Napa Agia Napa has ‘grown up’ and now has a growing number of sophisticated nightspots, restaurants and cultural venues, as well as lively clubs that still attract the young, trendy set. The resort has some of the best beaches and diving opportunities on the island.

Nightlife

Argaka features all type of bars, pubs, music tavernas and discos.

Culture & history

Cyprus Museum The Museum has got a magnificent collection of archaeological treasures, dating back to Neolithic times, including astonishingly well-preserved Mycenaean pottery, Chalcolithic figurines, Egyptian and Roman statues and carvings from the Royal Tombs at Salamis. The museum is located in central Nicosia. Kourion, Limassol The ancient city-kingdom site of the Kourion is the finest archaeological site on the island, With its spectacular Greco-Roman theatre, agora (marketplace) and the remains of a cathedral, the House of Eustolios with well-preserved 5th century floor mosaics, the ancient city-kingdom site of . On the same site is a stadium and sanctuary. Kyrenia Once an important Roman and Venetian port and said to be one of the most picturesque harbours in the Mediterranean, dominated by a vast fortress. Kyrenia Castle houses a Shipwreck Museum, which is best known for its 2,300-year-old merchant vessel and amphorae display. Tombs of the Kings This is a collection of rock cut tombs. The tombs were of noblemen, rather than kings, and are historically important because of their design. Baths of Aphrodite An isolated freshwater pool on the edge of the Akamas Peninsula, the Baths of Aphrodite near Polis is where, so legend has it, the Greek goddess bathed and enjoyed trysts with the god Adonis. Hala Sultan Tekke Located near Larnaca International Airport, the Hala Sultan Tekke is a beautiful 19th century mosque set amongst palm trees.
